 1. What is Betaout’s Mobile Push module?

Mobile Push is a message that is sent directly to your customer’s mobile device from your app installed on their device. It is a highly effective way to engage with customers who are using your mobile app. Betaout’s Mobile Push module lets you make use of Mobile Push notifications to engage with your customers.

 

2. What are the types of Mobile Push campaigns I can send using Betaout?

You can send Quick Push and Advance Push campaigns using Betaout.

 

3. What is Quick Push?

Quick Push refers to text-based Mobile Push notifications that can be sent to a mobile phone by an app. Betaout’s Quick Push allows you to send push notifications to your customer’s mobile device, which are displayed in their notifications panel.

 

4. What are the types of Quick Push campaigns I can set-up using Betaout?

Using Betaout, you can set-up Broadcast, Event-triggered and Recurring Quick Push campaigns.

 

5. What is Advance Push?

Advanced Push refers to interactive mobile push and in-app mobile push notification messages that you can send to your mobile app users. Advanced Push allows you to deliver push notifications including images, audio, video and other rich elements to your customer’s mobile device, which are displayed either in the Notifications panel, your mobile app, or both.

 

6. What are the types of Advanced Push campaigns I can set-up using Betaout?

Using Betaout, you can set-up Broadcast, Event-triggered and Recurring Advance Push campaigns.

 

7. What are the types of Advance Mobile Push Notification messages that I can send using Betaout?

Using Betaout, you can set-up Push, In-App and Push + In-App Advance Mobile Push Notification messages using Betaout.

 

8. What is the difference between Quick Push and Advance Push? What kind of Push Notification is ideal for me?

The difference between Quick Push and Advance Push is of the added functionalities that are available. Using Advance Push you can send rich, interactive push notifications, In-App messages and a combination of both. Quick Push allows you to only send text-based Mobile Push Notifications with not much of a scope for customization. You should choose which type of Push Notification you want to send based on these parameters.

 

9. How do I ensure that a user doesn’t receive more than one Mobile Push notification in a given time?

To ensure that a customer is not sent more than one Mobile Push notification in a given time selected by you. Do the following:

  1. Go to Betaout > Settings > Mobile Push > Time Interval Between GCM Push Notification
  2. Enter the time as desired and click on Save.

This requires configuring of the time interval between two different notifications being sent to the same user. So, if user A has been sent a notification at 12:00 p.m. and the time interval is set at 60 (minutes), the user would not be eligible to receive another push till 1:00 p.m.. and would be automatically eliminated from any Mobile Push campaigns between 12:01 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

10. How can I start tracking uninstalls for my mobile app?

In order to start tracking uninstalls for your mobile app, you have to first activate the functionality. Follow the steps given below:

  1. Go to Betaout > Settings > Mobile Push > Services
  2. Click on Make Active for Uninstall Tracking

 

11. How can I start sending Mobile Push Notifications to my Android users?

You can start sending Mobile Push Notifications to your Android users by activating the GOOGLE CLOUD MESSAGING (GCM) service from Settings > Mobile Push > Services

12. How can I start sending Mobile Push Notifications to my iOS users?

You can start sending Mobile Push Notifications to your iOS users by activating the iOS CLOUD MESSAGING service from Settings > Mobile Push > Services

13. How can I export the data related to my Mobile Push campaigns?

You can export all your Mobile Push related data by clicking on the export data icon near Create Campaign button on the Campaign page of Quick Push and Advance Push under Mobile Push module.

 

14. What is a Deep Link?

In the context of Mobile Push Notifications, Deep Link is referred to as a hyperlink which redirects the user to a specific part of your mobile app. It consists of a uniform resource identifier (URI) that links to a specific location within a mobile app rather than simply launching the app.

 

15. How can I create a Deep Link for my app?

Deep Link is something similar to web link, so app developers know very well how to do it. Guidelines to create a deep link is specified as here –

16. Can I use http:// instead of https:// in my deep link url?

On iOS platform, Apple has made it necessary to use HTTPS protocols. For Android, you can use both.

 

17. How does Delay While Idle work?

Delay While Idle withholds the Mobile Push notification till the targeted user’s device comes back to an active state. So, if a notification is sent to a device and the device is in an idle or inactive state i.e. the mobile services are stopped or are in an inactive state, the notification will not be displayed. When the services are back up , the notification will be displayed.

 

18. What is Collapse Key?

Collapse Key is to identify if a push message has additional content to make it expandable on notification pane of user’s device.

 

19. What is meant by Time To Live?

Time To Live is the duration for which the Mobile Push notification is withheld by Betaout in case the targeted user’s device is in an inactive state.

 

20. Can I send a test notification while setting-up a campaign?

No, this functionality is not yet available.

 

21. On what basis can I filter my Mobile Push campaigns?

22. Can I schedule my Mobile Push campaign? How can this be done?

Yes, you can schedule your Mobile Push Campaigns while you’re setting-up the campaign.

23. What is ‘Set Key & Value’? How does it work?

‘Set Key & Value’ helps you to add any additional information that you may want while sending a campaign. Say, you design a campaign set for flashsale category.  So you can set, category and  flashsale as the Key and Value respectively.

24. What is the difference between Push, In-App and Push + In-App Mobile Push notifications?

Push – Push refers to rich, interactive mobile push notifications which appear in the notification panel of the targeted user

In-App – In-App refers to messages that appear to the targeted user within the app itself. These messages are shown on the first app opening interaction of the user.

Push + In-App – Push + In-App refers to a combination of rich, interactive mobile push notification and In-App message. These first appear as a Push, and if the user doesn’t take the desired action, they are targeted with In-App messages for the same.

 

25. What are the different type of Advance Mobile Push Notification ‘Push’ messages that I can trigger for my Android users?

For your Android users, you can send Standard, Banner, Carousel, Carousel Text, Grid, Radio and VideoPush’ messages.

30. What is the best size for a video to be included in an Advance Push? How long should it be?

 

For Android, we recommend a size of about 1 MB. Whereas, as per Apple’s guidelines 5 MB is the limit. The video can be of any length as long as it is within the recommended file size limit.

 

31. What are the different types of Advance Mobile Push Notification ‘In-App’ messages that I can trigger for both my Android and iOS users in the same campaign?

For both your Android and iOS users, you can only send StandardIn-App’ messages.

35. What is meant by ‘Interactive Action’?

 

Interactive Action means that apart from normal click on a push message, you can provide additional buttons on your mobile push message to do specific action(s).

 

36. What is the difference between ‘Predefined CTA’ and ‘Custom CTA’?

Predefined CTA are the ones which have pre-defined actions associated with the notification buttons.

Custom CTA are those where you can customise the buttons in terms of text or image. This is only available for Android.

 

37. What is Geofencing?

Geofencing is a technology which assists you to target user based on their geographic location. Such campaign is only visible to user who meet the geo-location as set while designing the campaign.

 

38. How can I use Geofencing in my Advance Mobile Push Notifications?

You can use Geofencing in your Advance Mobile Push Notifications by following these steps:

  1. While designing your campaign, go to Advanced Options > Add Geofencing
  2. Choose from existing Geofencing properties and click on Use Selected Geofencing

 

39.How can I set-up Geofencing properties for my Advance Mobile Push campaigns?

To set-up a Geofencing Property go to Settings > Mobile Push > Add Geofencing > Add New Geo. Add values as required and click on Save.
