How to Set up Google Analytics tracking

 

To set up Google Analytics tracking, you’ll usually need either your Analytics tracking ID or the entire Javascript tracking code snippet. This corresponds to your Analytics property. To find the tracking ID and code snippet:

  1. Sign in to your Analytics account.
  2. Select the Admin tab.
  3. Select an account from the drop-down menu in the ACCOUNT column.
  4. Select a property from the drop-down menu in the PROPERTY column.
  5. Under PROPERTY, click Tracking Info > Tracking Code.

To get all the benefits of Universal Analytics for this property, copy and paste this code into every webpage you want to track.

To check the weather google analytics code is integrated in the website >> Hold CTRL+ SHIFT+ I go to Network >> and type google >> there you will see analytics.js is listed. See the screenshot below.

Go to Betaout Panel >> onsite >> CTA / Email Lead / Mobile Lead >> Go to target page >> Enable GA Targeting >>  Activate the campaign >>

When checking at website when instance is viewed an event is fired: Viewed. See the screenshot below.

Check your Real-Time reports

With the Real-Time reports, you can monitor user activity as it happens. If you see data in these reports, it means that your tracking code is currently collecting data.

  1. Sign in to your Analytics account.
  2. Navigate to a view in the property to which you added the tracking code. If you only recently added the tracking code to this property (website), it is likely that there will only be one view.
  3. Select the Reporting tab.
  4. Select Real-Time >> Event.

Set up Google GTM tracking

Follow the steps below to install Google Tag Manager:

  1. Sign in to GTM: https://tagmanager.google.com/ using your Google username and password.
  2. Click on the ‘create new account’ link on the home page.

16         3. Name your new GTM account (same as your company name), select the checkbox ‘Share data anonymously with Google and others’ (to enable                                         benchmarking) and then click on the ‘continue’ button

4.Enter the name of your container (same as your website name), select ‘Web’ (as here I am going to use my container on a website) and then click on the                        ‘create’ button

5. Accept Google Tag Manager Terms of service by clicking on the ‘Yes’ button

           6. You have now created new GTM account and container.

 7. Copy-paste the GTM code (aka container tag) on every page of your website immediately after the opening <body> tag and then click on the ok button.

To check whether GTM code is integrated on the website >> Hold CTRL + SHIFT+ I go to Network >> and type google >> there you will see gtm.js is listed. See the screenshot below.

How To Create Tag Variable and Triggers :

 

1). Create New Tag >> Name your tag = Betaout-CTA >> Tag configuration >> Choose a tag type >> Universal Analytics >> Tracking id = Choose variable >> New Variable >> Choose a variable type >> Constant >> Enter value = GA Tracking id >> Save.

 

2). Choose Track Type >> From the drop down Click >>Event >> Now be careful by choosing Event tracking parameters >> Now Create New category:

 

a). Category >> Add New variable >> Choose variable type >> Data layer variable >> Enter Data Layer Variable Name = boutGTMCategory

 

b). Action >> Add New variable >> Choose variable type >> Data layer variable >> Enter Data Layer Variable Name = boutGTMAction.

 

c). Label >> Add New variable >> Choose variable type >> Data layer variable >> Enter Data Layer Variable Name = boutGTMLabel.

 

3). Now Create Trigger >> Add  new Trigger >> Give a trigger name= Betaout-CTA(same as tag name) >> Choose trigger type >> Custom Events >>  Enter event name = Betaout-CTA >> Click on Radio button All Custom events >> Save.

 

4). Similarly for Betaout-Mobile_Lead – FOR MOBILE LEAD and Betaout-Email_Lead – FOR EMAIL LEAD follow  the same steps.

 

4). And Finally save the tags and click publish.

 

Go to Betaout >> onsite >> CTA / Email Lead / Mobile Lead >> Go to target page >> Enable GTM Targeting >>  Activate the campaign >>
